WMMR places Philly Band IKE as Bon Jovi opener

WMMR / Philly’s 1st Rock Station is proud to announce that regional rock band IKE has been chosen as the opening act for Bon Jovi’s sold-out show February 4th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

On December 27th, prior to IKE’s performance at WMMR’s weekly Tuesday Night Rock Show at Grape Street-Philadelphia, front man John Faye was pulled aside by WMMR afternoon personality, Jaxon, to show a special surprise – a video-taped invitation (attached) from Jon Bon Jovi.

Obviously, the band is ecstatic about the opportunity.

“It’s one thing to get an opening slot for a huge band - but to actually see Jon Bon Jovi up on the video screen at Grape St., personally inviting us to play the show, THAT was above and beyond what anyone could ask for” says Faye. “It was like we got this incredible windfall of good fortune at the end of the year, first with being the lead track on the WMMR Local Shots CD, then having the station actually add ‘Into Philadelphia’ into rotation, and now the Bon Jovi gig. Life is definitely good right now.”

WMMR released Jaxon’s “Local Shots, Volume 1,” featuring 13 of the area’s best bands, on December 6th. IKE’s talents set the tone for the exhilarating regional rock CD. “Hands-down, IKE is one of the best bands in Philadelphia. Respected by his peers, and adored by his fans, this is a well-deserved honor for John Faye and his band IKE,” Jaxon exclaims.
