IN THE NUTSHELL
By Lynn Ramage’

Hope all had a pleasant and safe Holiday. Hoppy Riddle and I, finally let the cat out of the bag as our New Years Announcement that we are getting a much over due 10 year Club Cellblock (RIP) together most likely at the Whiskey Tango in May. Information can be found on www.Metalheadsunited.com and http://www.myspace.com/CellblockReunion. The response has been overwhelming! We are looking for as many of the bands that actually performed in our club to play blocks and take our friends down memory lane one last time. The Cellblock was opened in 1990 shortly after the closing of the Empire Rock Room. The first Booking gal there was Lori Gallagher. Shortly after Lori left I was asked to join the team by owner Teddy L. I met and befriended Hoppy who was always the sound engineer there and Ron Hamill and Tracy on lights. We hired metal DJ Dave Beam and became a big Happy family. The rock club had a cool penitentiary theme about it and we figured we worked with over 400 bands such as; Roughhouse, Naughty Jane, Mr. Bones, Sic Vikki, AudioMob, WhiteFoxx, Teachers Pet, Dollhaus Puppet, Rattlehead, Side Show Freak, Christine, Scarlett Fever, Britny Fox, and the Nationals such as Dee Snider, Joe Lynn Turner, Kix, Ace Frehley, Jackyl, and the list goes on. It should be a good get together!

CD’S to Review:
Orange Sky- Upstairs- Granite Records- As you know I shoot from the hip like or not and this effort did not wow me in any way. Yawn! Pass the No Doze please. Good musicians lousy direction. Almost all the songs written by Cat Stevens and I was confused as to if this was a rock tribute effort to Cat or a bunch of guys that just liked the lamer style of Stevens?

Canto 6 - Break the Mold- Self Released - Based out of the Reading area. I smell a hit band! The Song “The Rock” I liked the most hmmm now we wonder what that could be a song about? I must have played their CD at least 10 times! They will be playing the Grape Street on March 8th so mark your calendars. Influences, White Zombie, Duran Duran, NIN, Godsmack, Almost considered Industrial Dance Rock. Powerful, in your face, HOT! Now this Band has a Pulse! Check them out and grab the CD at: www.Canto6.com

RUSH - R30 - 30th Anniversary World Tour- Now this package Set is an absolute must for any RUSH fan! It is a well done documentary/tour of their work, and history! The DVD’s has archived live footage of many past performances. WOW is the best way to describe this! What a gift!

Note February 3 at the Pirates Den for three really great tribute acts coming in. Ozzmosis, Maiden America and Heaven and Hell a Dio Tribute band! Should prove a fun night!
